Documents for British citizens

March 22, 2015
Please, can you tell me whether they give our birth certificates back to us?

Thanks Max

Ciao Max!
No, they won't give you back any of the documents you provide.
I guess that you are asking because you have the original birth certificates they gave you to your mothers at the time. Keep them with you and apply for new copies.
They must be Full Length Birth Certificates.

Good luck!

MUSIC TAX

August 3, 2014
Ciao Giusy,
we are planning our wedding in Puglia next spring. We have been told that there is a tax to be paid for live and recorded music. Can you tell us how it works?
Thanks Lian

Congratulations Lian!
You are talking about the SIAE tax: royalties + government fees
Unfortunately it is mandatory and quite expensive.
The amount depends on:

1. number of guests
2. venue category
3. cost a head of wedding dinner
4. whether you are dancing or not

Cost may vary from 200€ to 480€ approximately
Please not...

Catholic Ceremony and music

May 8, 2014
Hi Giusy,
my name is Caroline and I am from Norway.
I am getting married next September in a tiny countryside Church in Locorotondo.
I have been told I am not allowed to have a violin playing in the Church during ceremony.
Is that true?

Ciao Caroline,
the only instrument explicitly allowed to be played in a Church is the organ.
Therefore, the use of all other instruments is subject to the authorization of the parish in charge of the Church.
In any other country they are flexible on this matter. Unfor...

Favors

January 14, 2014
Hi Giusy,

This is Liz. I have been told that in Italy it's tradition to give sugar almonds as favors.
Any suggestion?

WD September 12th, 2014 Positano

Hi Liz,
yes you're right. We call them confetti, which have nothing to do with what you mean by confetti  :)
You may add them to a special gift for your guests, usually placed in a veil

Or you may place them in a nice box

An other option is what we call CONFETTATA, which is a "help yourself" candy buffet you may adjust to the style and colors of your...

How to assign seats at your wedding

December 17, 2013
We're going to have one big imperial table for 46 guests.
Where do you sit bride and groom in Italy? and parents and witnesses?

Thanks
WD May 2014, Taormina

Hi Gina
the picture you see here shows what the etiquette requires. The bride sits to the right of the groom.Next to her, the groom's father, the maid of honor, the bride's father. On the other side, next to the groom, the bride' s mother, the best man, the groom' s mother.

I like to suggest an other option that my couples usually appreciate a ...

NULLA OSTA @ US Embassy

December 11, 2013
Hi Giusy!
Is there a way to get the NULLA OSTA without going personally to the US Embassy in Naples?

WD - June 2014, Sorrento

Dear Kelly,
unfortunately you must go there personally. This document includes a sworn declaration that must be signed by both applicants: bride & groom.
Call the Embassy and make an appointment for your convenince. Seven days before your wedding date will be fine.
Please, remember that this document must be legalized by Prefettura in Via Amerigo Vespucci 172. Before going ...
