MUSIC TAX

Posted by Lian, Singapore on Sunday, August 3, 2014 Under: Music tax
Ciao Giusy,
we are planning our wedding in Puglia next spring. We have been told that there is a tax to be paid for live and recorded music. Can you tell us how it works?
Thanks Lian

Congratulations Lian!
You are talking about the SIAE tax: royalties + government fees
Unfortunately it is mandatory and quite expensive.
The amount depends on:

1. number of guests
2. venue category
3. cost a head of wedding dinner
4. whether you are dancing or not

Cost may vary from 200€ to 480€ approximately
Please note that the spouses are responsible for the payment of this tax, not the venue.
If not previously paid, in case of an inspection YOU will pay the fine up to 800€

Look for the local SIAE office in the area of the reception! Good luck!
